Losing weight is a battle that many people have to fight on a daily basis. For some the pounds come off just as easily as it went on. For others, it is a daily struggle and a constant battle with yourself and all those evil yet delicious foods. There are many reasons why shedding a few pounds seems so hard, maybe if you can figure out what your reason is it will make the journey a little easier.

Unfortunately for many and most people, dieting usually takes more than a little bit of exercise a couple of times a week. It involves a lot of self discipline and personal commitment to the long term goal. You have to commit to not just a menu change but to a lifestyle change.

There are many factors as to why you may find it hard to shed those few extra pounds, and unfortunately age plays a big role when it comes to loosing weight. People tend to pick up as they age. Their body structure changes and metabolisms slow down, making it even harder to shed those few extra pounds.

Unfortunately for many, genetics also plays a large part in weight gain and subsequent loss. If you are having a hard time loosing, take a look at your parents, if they have also fought the battle, find out what worked and didn’t work for them.

When you are planning on loosing kilos you first need to set an achievable goal. Determine how much you need to loose and when you need to loose it by. Remember to make your goals realistic otherwise they will be even harder to reach. Start small and work your way up.

The biggest problem for many people trying to trim down is their love for food. People love to eat. We need food to survive so it is not something you can simply cut out. Learning to change your eating habits and give up things that you love so much is one of the hardest things.

The next hardest thing for most people is changing your daily routine to fit in some sort of physical activity. If you are new to the whole exercise thing then it can be tough. Getting into a new work out and healthy living regime is a hard task. Take it slow and it will eventually get easier.

Find yourself a support system, get your family exercising with you. The more people you have rooting you on, the more likely you are to succeed.
